Miss SD Pageant 2013 - 2A new Miss South Dakota will crowned tonight at 7:00 at the Mueller Center in Hot Springs. For those unable to attend, there is a live online stream available for $25 from the pageant website…misssd.org.

Executive Director¬† Kristi Richter calls this year’s pageant with the sports-related theme Ready to Rumble “a very different, fun show ‘pageant take’ on basketball, baseball and football, with some cheering thrown in for good measure.”

There are 16 contestants this year, but the local favorite is Hot Springs native Autumn Simunek, competing as Miss Hot Springs. It’s Simunek’s third time to compete for the title, but she was Miss South Dakota Outstanding Teen in 2007 and when she was younger was a Little Sister for the pageant.

Four of the women are from Rapid City: Miss Siouxland Julia Kendrix, Miss Sturgis Morgan Black, Miss Rushmore Megan Lipp, and Miss Rapid City Alexia Vandersnick.
