The mercury on the Raise the Roof fundraising thermometer at WESTCO in Alliance and at the Mobius office in Hemingford is moving upward.
WESTCO employees this week stepped forward and donated $21,000 towards the new livestock pavilion at the Box Butte County Fair in Hemingford.
Company president David Briggs says the contribution is a great show of support for Box Butte County 4-H and FFA and is a huge step forward toward getting the over $100,000 debt paid on the new building, which will be used for the first time during the fair this August.
In addition, the Box Butte County Extension Office has received an additional $4,000 from various donors for this project since WESTCO and the Hemingford Cooperative Telephone Company and Mobius issued the challenge that they would jointly match up to $30,000 in public contributions.
Both companies continue to urge people to donate financially to the Raise the Roof campaign and take the mercury to the top of the fundraising thermometers.
