Two former Chadron State College softball stars are hosting an individual skills camps in Chadron July 9th-12th. Amy Schartz and Ashlynn Marino will offer 4 sessions covering infield, outfield, pitching and catching, hitting, and base-running and sliding. Age groups are 10 & under through 18 and under.
Participants can attend one or all of the sessions at a cost of $10 a session, and those attending two or more sessions will receive a camp t-shirt, the cost is $10.00 a session or $40.00 for all four.
Sessions will run from 4-to-8 pm each day at the Hampton Field women’s softball on North Main Street. An RSVP is needed by July 3rd. Contact Amy Schartz at 308-520-2344 or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org
Camper will need to bring a glove, bat, batting gloves, cleats, and helmet. Softball pants or shorts are recommended along with long socks. Amy Schartz completed her CSC career ranking in the top 10 in several career categories, including slugging percentage, games played, games started, hits, doubles and total bases. 5th on the career RBI list and 4th in home runs, 3 of her 20 home runs were game-winners.
Schartz was an RMAC All‐Academic selection and a member of the Omaha World-Herald All‐Nebraska Division II team. She is currently working on a graduate degree in community and mental health.
Ashlynn Marino has been one of the best defensive catchers in Chadron State history. She is also the school’s all‐time leader in throwing out base runners.
Marino has the highest single season total, with a career of .290 as a hitter, and has 20 RBIs and 15 doubles to go along with her hitter totals. Be‐hind the dish, she has a ﬁelding percentage of 982 and she has 55 assists. Ashlynn is a family and consumer science major.
