CSC FB 13 preseason bsn all-americans

Chadron State College’s Alex Ferdinand and Trelan Taylor have each been named to the 2013 Beyond Sports Network Preseason All-America teams. Both Ferdinand and Taylor were All-Americans last season.

Ferdinand, a junior kicker from Rapid City, S.D., is a second team selection, while Taylor, a senior defensive back from San Diego, Calif., is on the third team.

Ferdinand led the Eagles in scoring with 94 points last season. He converted 16 of 19 field goal attempts and 46 of 50 conversions.

Taylor finished the season as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference leader in interceptions with eight and he was the Eagles’ third-leading tackler with 74. He also forced two fumbles and was named to the all-conference first team on defense and the all-conference third team at punt returner.

Only 3 other players from the RMAC made BSN preseason All-American honors…Colorado State-Pueblo teammates Josh Sandoval, 2nd team PR, and J-B Matthews, 3rd team RB, and 3rd team LB Jared Koster of New Mexico Highlands.

CSC will face four BSN All-Americans the second week of the season when they play West Texas A&M in Dallas at Cowboys Stadium as part of the Lone Star Football Festival.

The Buffaloes have1st-teamers DE Ethan Westbrooks and kicker Segio Castillo and 2nd-team picks QB Dustin Vaughan and WR Torrence Allen.
