SKALA SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED TO 22

Skala22 people have been awarded scholarships by the Marjorie Leu Skala Foundation Scholarship Committee for the 2013-2014 school year.

Mrs. Skala, who established the trust, was a native of western Nebraska and a long time fourth-grade teacher at Emerson Elementary School in Alliance.

The Skala Scholarship program is for residents of Box Butte, Dawes, and Scotts Bluff Counties, who wish to pursue their education beyond high school at any institution of higher education, including vocational and technical schools.

The scholarships are administered through the Bank of the West Trust Department.

Awarded scholarships in the amount of $3,000 are Megan Brown, Jayna Friesen, Hannah Kesterson, Billie Kunzman, Emily O’Boyle, and Amy Watson.

Awarded scholarships in the amount of $2,000 are Darin Bottger, Samuel Eastman, Breanna Elley, Shayla Garetto, Kacey Horn, Rahne Kunzman, and Krissa Lewandowski.

Awarded scholarships in the amount of $1,500 are Megan Bradley, Brooke Brown, Katherine Hughart, and Megan Upp.

Awarded scholarships in the amount of $1,000 are Ellie Applegarth, Joshua Burgener, Megan Lehl, Elizabeth Moore, and Aimee Trumbull.

2014-15 scholarship applications will be available after January 1, 2014 from the Bank of the West Trust Department.
