Tornado ImageThe National Weather Service says a tornado damaged houses and outbuildings southwest of Chadron Tuesday night.

The twister touched down shortly after 8:30 p.m about 18 miles south-southwest of Chadron or 17 miles east-southeast of Crawford.

Another report had the tornado in the area of Table Rd and Dead Horse Road, about 12 miles south-southwest of Chadron at about 8:47 p.m.

A second storm also produced a tornado at about the same time near Kilpatrick Lake which prompted a tornado warning for Southwest Box Butte County.

The weather service said a rapidly rotating wall cloud was also observed at that location. There were no reports of damage with that twister.

A thunderstorm that moved along the Box Butte/Morrill County line from west to east dropped ping-pong ball sized hail 17 miles west of Alliance.  Golf ball sized hail was reported six miles south of Alliance on County Road 59.
