WATER USE REDUCTION POSSIBLE AT APS THIS SUMMER

SprinklersIf Alliance experiences a drought this summer like it did last year, don’t look for the water sprinklers to be working overtime on Alliance Public School lawns.

During Monday night’s board meeting, business manager Kevin Wilkinson informed the board that the district’s water bill was $30,000 higher in 2012 than it was in 2011.

Wilkinson stated that the grass would receive enough water to keep it alive, but green would probably not be the predominant color.

Also during Monday’s meeting:

Board members stated that most of the feedback on moving Sunday’s graduation ceremony from Bulldog Stadium to the Performing Arts Center was positive and is looking for more community input as to whether future graduation ceremonies should be held in the PAC with a video feed to other parts of the building.

Accepted the resignation of high school English teacher Michelle Schnell, administrative assistant Rebecca Schnell, who will continue her work as the public schools foundation director, and para-educator Annette Lower. They also approved the hiring of Eric Oestman of Colorado as the high school assistant principal, Ashley Belmer as a high school physical education instructor, and Katie Patrick as a high school special education instructor.
