TRACETRACE ADKINS BRINGS UP HIS OWN APPRENTICE

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Some big-name singers choose someone to perform with because of their track record or whether they think that person will help them sell a record. But Trace Adkins says he decided to pick a duet partner for a couple of high-profile New York City gigs because “it would really mean something if she were to do it.”

Adkins picked out unknown singer Maureen Maltez. He will have her in New York with him when he performs this week on “Today” and “Fox and Friends.” Maltez is nervous, but Adkins thinks she’ll do just fine.

TRACE ADKINS WILL RIDE IN NATIONAL MEMORIAL DAY PARADE

WASHINGTON (AP) — Trace Adkins will be one of the honorary grand marshals for the National Memorial Day Parade in Washington. Other celebrity marshals include U.S. Army veteran and “Dancing With The Stars” winner J.R. Martinez, actors Gary Sinise  and Joe Mantegna and Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III and his parents.

Taylor Hicks and Miss America 2013 Mallory Hagan will perform. The parade will be shown live in syndication.
