Residents of Box Butte County are encouraged to participate in the 2013 KCOW Green Up/Clean Up Days from April 30-May 4.
During Green Up/Clean Up Days, residents will be allowed to bring any items normally accepted at the Alliance Municipal Landfill and the SWANN Landfill north of Hemingford for disposal at no cost with the exception of tires, hazardous materials and construction and demolition materials.
The goal for Alliance is to collect a minimum of 350 tons and the Hemingford goal is 16 tons. Last year, Alliance residents collected 530 tons.
All business and commercial companies will be required to pay normal landfill disposal fees. The operating hours of the Alliance Landfill are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Please bring documentation with you to verify that you are a resident of the City of Alliance.
If you have no way to transport your items to the landfill, you may contact Keep Alliance Beautiful at 762-1729 to schedule a pick up. After scheduling your pick up, please place the items at curbside and plan to be present while crews are loading the truck.
The City of Alliance has been divided has been divided into 21 areas for clean up, and Keep Alliance Beautiful is in need of 21 groups to sign up to clean up each of these areas.
If the minimum goals are reached, KCOW Radio will contribute money to Alliance and Hemingford for community betterment projects.
Amounts brought to the recycling trailers of the Alliance Recycling Center will be included in the documented tonnage..
