BERLIN (AP) – Justin Bieber’s monkey is staying put for now.
You may recall the singer’s pet was seized last month after The Beeb failed to provide the right paperwork for it when he passed through Munich while on tour.
Since then, Mally has been kept at an animal shelter. The shelter says it has received emails from the singer’s camp, worrying that the monkey might be put down – and asking that Mally be placed in a zoo.
The shelter says it doesn’t euthanize animals who have been left behind. And a German customs official says Mally must stay in the shelter until The Beeb or someone he deputizes makes a direct request. If that doesn’t happen by next month, the customs official says Mally becomes German property – though Bieber may still have to pay a fine and the cost of putting up the monkey.
