Quilt - fan - 3Over 400 people visited the 19th annual Chadron Festival of Quilts over its three-day run, despite the snowstorm that dumped nearly two feet of snow just days it open.

Festival Committee Chairman Janice McCallum says there were198 entries from 74 quilters, with displays and other items bring the total of fabric art pieces to nearly 250 pieces.

This year’s festival theme of  A Quilt FANtasay…celebrating and requiring the use of the ‘fan block’ design…drew 74 entries with McCallum herself coming away with the win in the only judged competition of the festival.

There was a tie for Best of Theme honors between Charlotte Kriz of Chadron and Joyce Brooks of Rapid City, while another Rapid City quilter…Mary Ann Clark…took Best of Show.
