Chadron State College track coach Ryan Baily has signed two more athletes to letters of intent…one of them a former state champion from the Panhandle. Joining the Eagles next fall will be Isaiah Castellaw of Scottsbluff, who has spent this year at Western Nebraska Community College and Angelique Urenda of Pueblo South High School in Pueblo, Colo.
Castellaw won the Class B 300-meter intermediate hurdles at the Nebraska State Track and Field Meet last spring in a time 39.06 seconds…second on the all-class list for the meet.
The 6-foot-7 Castellaw also played on Scottsbluff’s Class B state championship basketball team last year, then played for WNCC this winter. He doesn’t not plan to play basketball at CSC and will instead focus on the hurdles.
Urenda is a senior at Pueblo South. Her best events are the high jump…with a career-best of 5-4…and the pole vault…where she’s cleared 10-0. Urenda is also a top student, ranking in the upper 15% of her class of 319 students.
Castellaw and Urenda bring Baily’s recruiting class of 2013 to 14 members with additional signings expected.
