APS HIRES NEW BAND DIRECTOR; TWO LONGTIME TEACHERS TO RETIRE
The Alliance School Board Monday approved the hiring of Mr. David May to be the new band director at Alliance High School. Mr. May currently is an assistant director of band and choir at Papillion-LaVista South High School near Omaha, and will receive his Masters Degree in Conducting this spring. May will succeed Dave Rischling, who will retire at the end of the current school year.

Also, the board accepted the resignations (retirement) of High School Computer Science Instructor Leonard Hartman and High School Math Instructor Dave Sautter. Hartman (left) has served the Alliance Public Schools for 42 years while Sautter has served 28 years. Sautter also was the head coach of the 2007 AHS girls state champion basketball team.
Congratulations, Leonard. You will be missed terribly by the students. You are a one-man computer whiz! Thank you for your years of dedication to the school and touching the hearts of minds of many gracious students!
